Luke 24:32 “Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way…” The context of this verse: two followers of Jesus, those who had been with Him and knew Him intimately, were walking on the road to Emmaus on three days after Calvary. Their hearts were deeply troubled by all that had happened. Their conversation expressed fear, discouragement and doubt. Then Jesus joined them, but they did not recognize Him, yet. While they walked the path, He began to explain all the events, beginning with Moses’ writings, through the prophets up to that very day. As they neared their destination, He made as if to leave, but they begged Him to stay that they might continue this sweet, divine
fellowship. They sat together for a meal, and as He prayed a blessing for them, their eyes were opened and
they knew Him. He left, and immediately they returned to Jerusalem to tell the others they had seen Jesus.
This forty day journey is coming to an end. Yet it is not the end, but a beginning. In the Valley you
spent days allowing the Holy Father to look into your spirit. These were hard days as you got real in your
prayers and allowed Him to search your heart. The searching, the cleansing complete, you then sought after
Him, to know Him and allow Him to know you in new and more intimate ways.
You crossed the Bridge, led by His Spirit, agreed that you were no longer in control and yielded to His direction.
Then the path rose into the Highlands. You began to see that you have been called to a life lived for others. You have taken your place as an intercessor.
These last days on the Highland path, you have found that He is God. But, oh the wonder, a God not far, but God so near, He is here. He said, “I will never leave you.” It is true.
Two very simple, but profound, truths are needed as you continue your Highland path.
Isaiah40:8 “The grass withers, the flower fades; but the Word of our God shall stand forever.
John 14:16 “And I pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever.”
God’s Word in your hand before you, God’s Spirit in your heart within you.
Dearly beloved, you may continue the Highland path knowing He has provided everything you need.
Know that His Word and His Spirit are always with you to guide you, to protect you, to comfort you, and lead
you Home.
And yes, your heart does burn within you as He walks with you along the way.
“I am here, I will walk with you.”
Thank You for these 40 days, I Love this 40th day Spiritual blessing. I look forward to a discussion of the experience in the last 40 days.
